OKINAWA HARBOR, JAPAN (DEC. 21, 2022) – U.S. Marine Corps Brig. Gen. Fridrik Fridriksson, deputy commanding general of III Marine Expeditionary Force, and Navy Rear Adm. Derek Trinque, commanding officer of Expeditionary Strike Group Seven, speak to Marines of the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit and Sailors aboard amphibious transport dock USS John P. Murtha (LPD 26), Dec. 21, 2022. The 13th MEU is embarked with the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, comprised of amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) and amphibious transport dock ships USS Anchorage (LPD 23) and the John P. Murtha, and operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with Allies and partners and serve as a ready-response force to defend peace and maintain stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
