SOUTH CHINA SEA (DEC. 30, 2022) – U.S. Navy Aviation Boatswains Mate (handler) 3rd Class Marqese Jones, landing signalman enlisted assigned to amphibious transport dock USS John P. Murtha (LPD 26) signals CH-53E Super Stallion pilots with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 362 (Rein.), 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, aboard the John P. Murtha, Dec, 30. The mobility and sustainability provided by amphibious platforms enable the Navy-Marine Corps team to extend the reach of our capabilities. The 13th MEU is embarked with the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, comprised of amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) and amphibious transport dock ships USS Anchorage (LPD 23) and the John P. Murtha, and operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with Allies and partners and serve as a ready-response force to defend peace and maintain stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
