PACIFIC OCEAN, (Nov. 18, 2022) - U.S. Navy Gunners Mate Seaman Carson West, assigned to Combat Systems Department, amphibious transport dock USS John P. Murtha (LPD 26), instructs a fellow Sailor on handling the M4 Carbine service rifle during weapons familiarization training aboard USS John P. Murtha, Nov. 18. The Navy-Marine Corps team, capable of both rapid response and sustained operations globally, remains America's most persistent and versatile military instrument. The 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit is embarked with the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, comprised of amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) and amphibious transport docks USS Anchorage (LPD 23) and USS John P.
