U.S. Navy Sailors assigned to the forward-deployed Amphibious Assault Ship USS America (LHA 6) carry a simulated casualty to safety during a crash, fire, rescue exercise aboard the Amphibious Assault Ship USS America (LHA-6), in the Philippine Sea, Jan. 27, 2023. The exercise went over how to control a fuel fire on a simulated downed aircraft to prepare for any real-life scenarios. The 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit is operating aboard ships of USS America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
