U.S. Marines with 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit and U.S. Navy Sailors with the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA-6), pull the supply rope connected to the Fleet Replenishment Oiler USNS John Ericson (T-AO-194) during a replenishment-at-sea operation in the Philippine Sea, Jan. 30, 2023. The RAS was conducted to replenish fuel, food, and supplies for the Marines and Sailors onboard the America. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of USS America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
