    Hawaiian prickle leaf or popolo ku mai (Solanum incompletum). For over half a century, this endangered nightshade was thought to be extinct until it was rediscovered at PTA in the 1990s. It is one of the few native Hawaiian plant species that developed spiny red-orange prickles as a defense mechanism. Currently found in three main locations in western PTA and adjacent state lands in Nāpu’u Natural Resource Management area. PTA stock photo.
