U.S. Marines and Sailors with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, process role players during a Non-Combatant Evacuation Operation (NEO) training exercise aboard amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA-6), in the Philippine Sea, Feb. 2, 2023. NEO training ensures Marines and Sailors are ready to receive, process, and if needed evacuate civilian personnel from a foreign country. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of USS America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
