230127-N-UF592-1148 YOKOSUKA, Japan (Jan. 27, 2023) Damage Controlman 1st Class Scott Mowery, from Atchison, Kansas, simulates the presence of fire during a joint damage control drill aboard the U.S. Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), while in-port Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka, Jan. 27. The drill was designed to enhance coordination between Ronald Reagan’s in-port emergency team and Commander, Navy Region Japan Fire and Emergency Services Yokosuka in the event of a large fire that requires additional assistance. Ronald Reagan, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the United States, and supports Alliances, partnerships and collective maritime interests in the Indo-Pacific region.
