U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Griffin Tuthill and Lance Cpl. Gage Killion, both machine gunners with Battalion Landing Team 1/4, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, set up security during a helicopter raid exercise on Ie Shima, Okinawa, Japan, Jan. 31, 2023. The Marines of BLT 1/4 were tasked with capturing and securing objective points from simulated enemy forces during the exercise. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of USS America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
