U.S. Navy operations specialist 1st class Devin Russell assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA-6), looks for boats in the surrounding area during an expeditionary advance base operation exercise at W-174, Okinawa, Japan on Feb. 6, 2023. The EAB exercise reinforced Marines and Sailors abilities to gather maritime and airspace intelligence by employing radars and relaying the information back to commanders aboard the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA-6). The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of USS America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
