F-35 Lightning II test pilot Theodore Dyckman approaches the airfield to conduct vertical landings to maintain aviation currency requirements in a developmental test F-35B short takeoff and vertical landing variant fighter aircraft Feb. 8, 2023, at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Md. Dyckman is assigned to the Pax River F-35 Integrated Test Force (ITF), whose workforce is responsible for effectively planning, coordinating, and conducting safe, secure, and efficient flight test for the B and C variants of the fighter. The ITF is part of the F-35 Joint Program Office, the Department of Defense's focal point for the fifth-generation strike aircraft for the Navy, Air Force, Marines, and our allies.
