The amphibious transport dock ship USS New York (LPD 21) prepares to receive a fuel probe from the Military Sealift Command dry cargo and ammunition ship USNS Washington Chambers (T-AKE 11) during a replenishment at sea. New York is part of the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group with the embarked 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit and is deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility. The U.S. Navy is constantly deployed to preserve peace, protect commerce, and deter aggression through forward presence. Join the conversation on social media using #warfighting.
