YIGO, Guam (Feb. 10, 2023) - Soldiers from the Guam Army National Guard's 1224th Engineer Support Company (ESC), who comprises outgoing unit Task Force Phalanx, gathers for a group photo following a transfer of authority ceremony at the Andersen Air Force Base Guam in Yigo, Feb. 7.
Task Force Sindalu officially took over the mission from Task Force Phalanx to provide security operations in support of Task Force Talon who is responsible for operating the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) on Guam. The THAAD is an anti-ballistic missile defense system designed to protect Guam from incoming ballistic missiles in their terminal (descent or re-entry) phase.
