U.S. Marine Corps Pfc. Joshua Ubeda, a radio operator with Combat Logistics Battalion 31, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, establishes long-range radio communication with a forward arming and refueling point, Japanese base, and a U.S. forward operating base during Iron Fist 23 at Hijudai, Japan, Feb. 17, 2023. A FARP is a point of operations to refuel and rearm aircraft outside of a forward operating base. Iron Fist is an annual bilateral exercise designed to increase interoperability and strengthen the relationships between the U.S. Marine Corps, the U.S. Navy, the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force.
