U.S. Secretary of State Antony J. Bliken and Brig. Gen. Mehmet Serkan Dan, 10th Tanker Base Command commander meet with U.S. Airmen and media during Secretary Bliken’s visit at Incirlik Air Base, Turkiye, Feb. 19, 2023. Secretary Blinken visited Incirlik AB to see firsthand efforts to assist the Turkish authorities responding to the Feb. 6 earthquakes. In the aftermath of the earthquakes, U.S. President Joseph R. Biden directed the heads of Federal agencies across the government to rapidly mobilize to assist the Government of Turkiye and humanitarian partners in Syria. As the president's chief foreign affairs adviser, Secretary Bliken carries out U.S. foreign policies through the Department of State including the Foreign Service, Civil Service, and U.S. Agency for International Development. The 39th AIr Base WIng is one of several U.S. military units supporting Task Force 61/2, operating under U.S. Naval Forces Europe, U.S. Sixth Fleet and U.S. European Command as part of the International Turkish disaster relief efforts.
