The command photo of Lt. Col. Gilford Robinson, a native of Philadelphia, Penn. He was one of the first African American Marines to serve on the Marine Security Guard Program in 1986, where he commanded Delta Company, Marine Security Guard Battalion, in Panama City, Panama. Known as the "Delta Company Cowboys," MSGs under Robinson were in the program's most dangerous region and were the first company to receive a Navy Unit Commendation after the Vietnam War.
