Nicholas Spears, King of Zulu, gives a speech to the people of New Orleans during Lundi Gras at Woldenberg Park, Feb. 20, 2023. Spears enlisted and served in the Marine Corps from 1992-2000 as an admin specialist and a small computer systems specialist. It is a Lundi Gras tradition for King Rex and King Zulu to arrive by ship to the riverfront to ring in festivities before their respective parades on Mardi Gras Day.
