Staff, faculty and the Corps of Cadets filled the West Point Club Grand Ballroom to listen to retired Lt. Col. Tony Marshall’s military journey in the Air Force during the annual Black History Month Observance event on Feb. 16 at the U.S. Military Academy. The theme for this observance was inspiring change. This observance runs through the entire month of February and celebrates the contributions of African Americans to our nation. Marshall spoke on his experience as a cadet during the 1960s at the U.S. Air Force Academy, his tenure as an officer, his time spent as a prisoner of war during the Vietnam War, and imparted wisdom to cadets on the importance of financial literacy, equality and what it means to serve and lead the nation honorably.
