A U.S. Navy Sailor views a memorial dedicated to a fallen Japanese pilot during a tour across Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Feb. 21, 2023. The purpose of the visit was to provide a visual and historic understanding of the attacks that occurred on Naval Air Station Kaneohe Bay on Dec. 7, 1941, in which U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer John Finn’s acts of heroism earned him the Congressional Medal of Honor. The memorial was created in honor of Fusata Iida, a Japanese pilot who crashed on the air station during the attack. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Brandon Aultman)
