Weekley during an identification briefing in Orlando, Florida, Feb. 25, 2023. Weekley was a navigator assigned to the 329th Bombardment Squadron when the B-24 Liberator aircraft on which he was serving was hit by enemy anti-aircraft fire on Aug. 1, 1943. The aircraft then crashed north of Bucharest, Romania and his remains were not identified following the war.
