Odierno after being awarded the Combat Action Badge during a ceremony at Forward Operating Base Sharana, Paktika province, Afghanistan, Sept. 19, 2012. The ceremony honored soldiers who were personally present and actively engaged by the enemy, and performed satisfactorily in accordance with the prescribed rules of engagement.
