A student at the University of Central Florida's (UCF) National Center for Forensic Science (NCFS), spoke to the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency leadership, staff and contractor supporting DPAA about a project she is working on during their visit to university in Orlando, Florida, Feb. 24, 2023.
During the first hour, the faculty and students shared how they are researching the use of a mobile scanner to determine bone from non-osseous material in the field and segregate discrete individuals from commingled remains—additional presentations on trace analysis, pollen (Palynography) analysis, artificial bone construction and hair analysis.
During the visit to NCFS, Director Dr. Michael Sigman took the time to acknowledge several individuals, including UCF alumnus Dr. Laurel Freas, Mary Megyesi and former ORISE fellow Katie Passalaqua. He recognized the strong reputation that DPAA holds among his forensic students.
