In 2019 a fellow Guard sniper, Staff Sgt. Tim Grover, with the Nebraska National Guard’s 2nd Battalion of the 134th Infantry Regiment (Airborne), also part of the 45th IBCT, initiated a memorial sniper competition to honor Horton.
