The complete Joint Task Force MED 374 Hospital staff, co-led by Col. Robert Gregg and Command Sgt. Maj. Jason Hopkins (bottom left, row 1 and 2) pose in the front of the organizations official Great Lakes Medics Logo. The non-doctrinal Task Force is primarily composed of members of the 801st Field Hospital, originally from Chicago Illinois, to include medical, logistics, operations, and command elements. The primary role of this Task Force was providing medical and operations support to U.S. and Coalition Forces in the Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) area that includes Iraq and Syria. The logo was created on their 9-month deployment to the Baghdad Iraq, and then displayed on two T-wall barriers, a reinforced concrete wall that protects the hospital from potential danger, surrounding the complex. At the bottom of the logo, not visible in picture, an inscription in Latin reads “Salvate Omnem, Nolite Parcere” which translates to “Save all, Spare None.” The logo was hand painted by Capt. Brandy Welch-Ward, 1st Lt. Mary Kurtz, and Sgt. Kalley Latham taking 40 hours to complete. The motto for the group was “Make it Matter.”
