U.S. Army National Guard SSG Brittany Anderson with the 198th ESB and Sen. Airman Kelly Leibolt, the Services Journeyman for the 166th Force Support Squadron, receives the 2023 SBI Duncan Leadership Award at Col. S.B.I Duncan Armory, Mar. 5, 2023.
Each year the Delaware National Guard recognizes one Airman and one Soldier for living up to the ideals of the U.S. Army Col. S.B.I Duncan. The S.B.I. Duncan award goes to well-rounded leaders who are involved with their community, excel at their job, inspire others and make an effort to continue their education.
Col. Duncan served in the Spanish-American war, World War I and both the European and Asian events of World War II. Six months after returning from World War II, Duncan passed away of a deployment related illness.
The award was presented by Dr. Beth Duncan, wife of Lt. Gen. William Duncan (Ret.), and spoke at this year’s ceremony as the representative from the Duncan family in memory of him and his love for the Delaware National Guard. (U.S. Army National Guard photo by Sgt. Alyssa Lisenbe)
