U.S. Marines with the maritime raid force, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, load gear onto a CH-53E Super Stallion aboard the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA-6), in the Philippine Sea, Mar. 6, 2023. This specialized insertion training allowed Marines to hone the necessary skills to conduct waterborne operations. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the USS America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
