Students talk to Senior Airman Megan Irvin, 36th Airlift Squadron loadmaster, to learn what it’s like to serve as aircrew for the C-130J during an annual ‘Fly Girls’ aviation event at Yokota Air Base, Japan, March 8, 2023. More than 100 middle school and high school students were able to take part in a C-130J incentive flight flown by an all-female crew, tour U.S. Air Force and JASDF aircraft, and listen to U.S. and Japanese aviators’ personal experiences as aircrew during the event. ‘Fly Girls’ served as an opportunity for participants to celebrate International Women’s Day and educate Yokota youth about the contributions women have made and continue to make in aviation.
