Maj. Gen. Charlton S. Gaerlan, Commandant of the Philippine Marine Corps (right) receives a gift from U.S. Marine Corps Col. Edward Sullivan, Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) San Diego Chief of Staff, February 27, 2023. The overall purpose of the visit is to strengthen senior leader relationships between the U.S. Marine Corps and the Philippine Marine Corps, enhance interoperability, and provide Maj. Gen. Gaerlan a better understanding of the U.S. Marine Corps’ current and future combat capabilities.
