The Idaho National Guard conducted the honorable transfer of former Idaho Governor Phill Batt yesterday to the Idaho State Capitol, where he will lie in state until 10 a.m. this morning.

The Idaho Army National Guard’s 25th Army Band played music during the transfer and the Idaho Air National Guard’s 124th Fighter Wing conducted a flyover in his honor.

The Idaho National Guard’s joint honor guard joined members of the Idaho State Police to form a guard of honor over Gov. Batt’s casket as the public pays their final respects to the state’s 29th governor.

Gov. Batt will be honorably transferred from the Capitol Rotunda to the Cathedral of the Rockies at 10 a.m. His funeral services begin at 11 a.m. and the public is invited to attend.

Gov. Batt died March 4 on his 96th birthday. He served as Idaho’s governor, and the commander in chief of the Idaho National Guard, from 1995 to 1999. He also served as the state’s lieutenant governor, the chair of the Idaho Republican Party and as a member of the Idaho legislature from 1965 to 1979 and again from 1984 to 1986.
