U.S. Marines, with Battalion Landing Team 1/4, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, move to secure positions for a helicopter raid exercise at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, during Iron Fist 23, March 9, 2023. The exercise trained the Marines ability to quickly deploy, orientate, and defend a landing zone. Iron Fist is an annual bilateral exercise designed to increase interoperability and strengthen the relationships between the U.S. Marine Corps, the U.S. Navy, the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force.
