Aviation Machinists Mate Airman Jorge L. Ocasio, assigned to the aircraft intermediate maintenance department aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73) puts together a RAM fan for a general quarters drill in Newport News, Virginia, March 15, 2023. George Washington is conducting a simulated underway to validate shipboard habitability and operational services to ensure the ship meets the final refueling and complex overhaul (RCOH) milestones. RCOH is a multi-year project performed only once during a carrier's 50-year service life that includes refueling the ship's two nuclear reactors, as well as significant repairs, upgrades, and modernization.
