Photo illustration created to highlight Cpl. Joshua Ray, who was nominated as a Renowned Reservist, at Fort Carson, Colorado, March 11, 2023. Ray is a field artillery cannoneer and a section chief for 5th Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division.
Ray, a Grand Junctions, Colorado native, said, “I wanted to join the reserve because it was the little bit extra that I felt like I could do.” He added, “It instills another layer of discipline and self esteem that helps me excel in my civilian job.”
Ray is also a deputy sheriff for Mesa County Sheriff’s Office assigned to the Major Offender Task Force, a joint operation with the United States Marshals Service. Their mission is to locate and apprehend violent fugitives and sex offenders.
Stay tuned to see the Renowned Reservists training as a part Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF) 25 in the upcoming Integrated Training Exercise (ITX) this summer. ITX is a live-fire and maneuver combined arms exercise designed to train battalion and squadron-sized units in tactics, techniques, and procedures. The exercise also acts as a mass mobilization rehearsal for the Reserve units and enhances the total Reserve force readiness to rapidly deploy when called. This provides a sustainable and ready operational Reserve force for employment across the full spectrum of crisis and global engagement. (U.S. Marine Corps photo illustration by Lance Cpl.
