Karl Thomas, commander, U.S. 7th Fleet, and Christine Elder, U.S. Consul General, cut a ribbon during the official opening of a display commemorating the 80th anniversary of the formation of the U.S. 7th Fleet at the Queensland Maritime Museum in Brisbane, Australia, March 15. 7th Fleet is the U.S. Navy's largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, and routinely interacts and operates with Allies and partners in preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
