CAMP LEMONNIER, Djibouti (March 17, 2023) CLDJ’s St. Patrick’s Day celebration was filled with tradition and legacy as 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry Regiment, known as 'the Fighting 69th' held their traditional 69th Whiskey toast, religious service, and parade formation down CLDJ’s main street. The event ended with an award ceremony called the ‘Long and Faithful,’ that honors members who have served for 10 or more years with the Fighting 69th. Task Force Wolfhound has the essential mission under Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa of providing critical security support at five different installations, including Camp Lemonnier, across three different East African countries. Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, serves as an expeditionary base for U.S. military forces providing support to ships, aircraft and personnel that ensure security throughout Europe, Africa and Southwest Asia. The base enables maritime and combat operations in the Horn of Africa while fostering positive U.S.-Africa relations. (U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist 1st Class Maria A.
