The U.S. Military Academy’s Equal Opportunity Office hosted the Women’s History Month Observance March 16 at the West Point Club. The event’s guest speaker was retired CW5 Jeanne Pace, who entered the Women’s Army Corps in 1972 and then served 43 years in the Army and 30 years as a warrant officer. When she retired in 2015, she was the last of the former WAC Band members, the longest serving warrant officer and the longest serving female of any branch still serving as she completed 43 years of continuous active-duty service in the U.S. Army. Each March, the Department of Defense pays tribute to the women who, through their determination and contributions, have shaped America’s history and whose efforts continue to pave the way forward. This year’s theme is “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories.” During Women’s History Month, we honor the women who continue to tell our stories. The event included a performance by the West Point Band’s Woodwind Quintet.
