Elements of the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) prepare a Lightweight Counter Mortar Radar (LCMR) during a fire mission while participating in MEU Exercise III on Marine Corps Auxiliary Field Bogue, North Carolina, March 7, 2023. The LCMR is a light-weight advanced mountable radar system that is capable of multi-mission tasks such as detecting early warning fires, counterfire target acquisitioning and air surveillance while deployed. U.S. Marines and Sailors of the 26th MEU created a composite artillery fire base to defend an Expeditionary Advanced Base in depth with long-range precision fires enabling the Marine Air-Ground Task Force to spread its artillery assets across the battlespace.
