Spc. Jason M. Martins, from Levittown, N.Y., Spc. Brandon C. Bollman, from Lapeer, Mich., and Pvt. Benjamin D. Mansfield, from Worms, Germany, all mortarmen with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment out of Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, send a mortar down range during bilateral training with Japanese Defense Force Members. Soldiers and Japanese Defense Force Members took turns displaying their mortar-firing abilities during Orient Shield 12 at the Aibano Training Area near Imazu City, Japan, as a part of the bilateral exercise designed to enhance U.S. and Japan combat readiness and interoperability while strengthening their relationship in support of the security interests of friends and allies in the region..
