Six reservists assigned to the 445th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron participated in Dissimilar Aircraft Refresher Training (DART) at St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, March 21 – 23, 2023. The purpose of DART is to provide AES nurses and technicians a bulk of their semiannual training requirements by having each participant train on different aircraft not typically flown at their home stations. The training was a part of their overall Aeromedical Readiness Missions (ARMs) training in which they conduct at least nine times monthly. They began the medical training on their own wing’s C-17 Globemaster III flying enroute to Keesler Air Force Base, Miss. from Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio then they “tail” swapped into a C-130J Hercules flown by the 815th Airlift Squadron at Keesler. They continued the training on the C-130 aircraft enroute to St. Croix where they continued training. The training included mock patient transport and in-flight care.
