In January 2023, USAID Deputy Administrator Adams-Allen visited the Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) command control center. Since 2020, USAID has provided $7M to ERC to help strengthen grassroots COVID-19 prevention and preparedness throughout Egypt. ERC’s approach taps into a network of 30,000 volunteers & ensures local actors are not only recipients of aid but also partners in development.
Together, we have established 47 vaccine centers in hard-to-reach & underserved areas, upgraded ERC’s Command Center with advanced technology, established seven mobile centers, trained hundreds of healthcare providers and volunteers, and vaccinated about 70,000 individuals.
