Aaron Shoemaker, commanding officer Naval Air Station Sigonella, joins Sailors in cheering students of Department of Defense Education Activity during Purple Up day after getting off the bus, April 12, 2023. April is designated as "Month of the Military Child," and Purple Up day is a significant holiday to showcase and celebrate children whose parents serve in the armed forces for their strength and dedication. Wearing purple shows support to our military children. NAS Sigonella’s strategic location enables U.S. allied, and partner nation forces to deploy and respond as required to ensure security and stability in Europe, Africa and Central Command.
