U.S. Air Force Capt Christopher Perkins, pilot assigned to the 92nd Air Refueling Squadron, puts on a flight helmet with night vision goggles in preparation for his nighttime tactical approaches and departures (TADS) during the threats and tactics phase of the 509th Weapons School (WPS) course, March 17, 2023. During this training phase the 509th WPS students are evaluated on their ability to fly their TADs, take sufficient notes to effectively reconstruct the sortie, analyze the mission objectives, debrief the mission, and produce instructional fixes for areas that did not meet mission objectives.
