An MH-60S Sea Hawk, assigned to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 21, takes off from the flight deck of amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), April 7, 2023 in the Sea of Japan. The Makin Island air-ground-logistics team is capable of executing diverse missions from the sea, from limited combat operations to humanitarian assistance. The Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, comprised of Makin Island and amphibious transport docks USS Anchorage (LPD 23) and USS John P.
