U.S. Army soldier prepped rice in a hollowed out bamboo stem in order to cook for the rest of the soldiers during the Jungle Survival Training course. The bamboo tree is used when soldiers do not have any equipment to cook the rice in and is taught during the Jungle Survival Training to U.S. soldiers. ( U.S. Army Reserve photo by Sgt.
