CORAL SEA (Apr. 17, 2023) Ensign Ira Toracinta, from Kittery, Maine, and Boatswain’s Mate 3rd Class James Garcia, a search and rescue swimmer, from Salt Lake City, throw a rescue litter into the Coral Sea while conducting search and rescue/small boat operations with Independence-class littoral combat ship USS Oakland (LCS 24) as Oakland sails across the Coral Sea, Apr. 17, 2023. Oakland, part of Destroyer Squadron 7, is on a rotational deployment, operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with Allies and partners and serve as a ready-response force in support of a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
