U.S. Army Lt. Col. Jocelin Blake, with Public Health Command-Pacific, center, demonstrates the capabilities of an advanced canine medical trainer during Balikatan 23 at Clark Air Base, Philippines. This bilateral exchange of training and capabilities featured military working dogs and handlers from the 36th Security Squadron and the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ 773rd K-9 Squadron. Balikatan 23 is the 38th iteration of the annual bilateral exercise between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the U.S. military. The exercise includes three weeks of training focused on amphibious operations, command and control, humanitarian assistance, urban operations and counterterrorism skills throughout northern and western Luzon.
