Philippine Coast Guard Station Antique service members connected with 3rd Civil Affairs Group U.S. Marines to discuss capabilities, equipment, and disaster preparedness measures to strengthen local resilience during a natural emergency. Balikatan, Tagalog for “shoulder-to-shoulder,” is an annual bilateral exercise between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the U.S. military. 3rd Civil Affairs Group Marines connect with community leader to better understand their disaster preparedness measures and to work towards strengthening local resilience during natural emergency. The exercise provides unique opportunities for participating forces to increase interoperability and provide tangible benefits for the people of the Philippines.
