U.S. Airmen of the 144th Air Support Squadron, 176th Wing, Alaska Air National Guard, load mission-essential cargo into a C-17 Globemaster III aircraft at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina, April 18, 2023. The squadron loaded the cargo for the 4th Fighter Wing in preparation for Southern Strike, an large-scale exercise that promotes interoperability between special forces, conventional ground forces, and air assets in order to ensure the U.S. military stays relevant and ready to respond to a peer-to-peer, large-scale combat operation.
