GREAT LAKES, Ill. (Apr. 20, 2023) Damage Controlman (DC) “A” School instructors stationed with Surface Warfare Engineering Schools Command Great Lakes (SWESC GL), coaches accession level students from SWESC GL and Surface Combat Systems Training Command Great Lakes on the nozzleman position and hose handling techniques in the Damage Controlman “A” School live fire trainer at Naval Station Great Lakes. DC “A” School host damage control training for both SWESC GL and Surface Combat Systems Training Command Great Lakes accession level Sailors for utilizing flooding and firefighting techniques in a shipboard environment. DC “A” School instructors also teach accession level damage controlmen how to be technicians that perform maintenance and repair of damage control equipment and systems; plans, supervise and perform tasks necessary for damage control, ships stability, preservation of watertight integrity, firefighting, chemical, biological and radiological warfare defense; instructs and coordinates damage control parties; instructs the technique of damage control, chemical, biological, and radiological defense, and prepares records and reports.
