U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Ivan Cordova, a chemical, biological, radioactive and nuclear defense specialist with the command element, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, scans for chemical and biological threats during a CBRN response element exercise at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, April 24, 2023. A CRE-EX tests CBRN’s capabilities to respond to different operations, including clandestine labs, containing chemical munitions, and countering weapons of mass destruction while performing reconnaissance, decontamination, and rapid insertion for casualties.
