APRA HARBOR, Guam (April 18, 2023) The Ohio-class ballistic-missile submarine USS Maine (SSBN 741) pulls into Guam for a logistics visit, escorted by an MH-60S Seahawk helicopter assigned to the “Island Knights” of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 25, April 18. The logistics stop reflects the United States’ resolve and commitment to the Indo-Pacific region with continued extended deterrence to our regional allies and demonstrates the flexibility, survivability, readiness, and capability of U.S. Navy submarine forces. Maine is homeported at Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor, Washington. It is a launch platform for submarine-launched ballistic missiles, providing the United States with its most survivable leg of the nuclear Triad.
